I was introduced recently to the term personal epistemology. So far, I understand it to mean the daily events that we encounter that compose our perception of the world around us. Each of us is so unique even though we travel through many similar situations, attend the same schools, or grow up in the same neighborhood. It is because of all I have seen that I am led to create the vivid works of color that flow from my soul freely. I often feel like a vessel, as though the Divine is travelling through my physical being and out onto the canvas to remind us all why we are alive.
My works are usually abstract, composed of vibrant colors and open to interpretation. The brilliance of abstract visuals is that each viewer sees what their imagination conjures.
I take a lot of photographs. I feel that Nature is the most spectacular work of art. I am honored when I get to be in the right place at the right time to capture the most beautiful of moments.
I was 19 chilling at Hamlin Beach playing guitar and watching the waves roll in. I went home & created this piece. It is to me the Big Bang that began it all.
I can be inspired by the pattern on the dress I am wearing, the way Sun refracts through a pane of glass or the way the water carves out shapes in the sand on the shore. There is art everywhere!
